Dunno. But you could check on the vmware site, they have a lot of common issues commented. Google finds your 299 entries like yours. One mentions that there is a "details" button. Did you see it? Another says "While the error details are not very explicit, the reason for the error is very simple: the IPv6 lookup for “localhost” is not supported by the server.",

I did notice but it never displayed anything I could tell. I do have IPv6 disabled though OSE at some point added this line to my /etc/hosts:

::1 localhost ipv6-localhost ipv6-loopback

I don't know if it matters but, being a laptop, I am using NetworkManager in lieu of the conventional /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.

I started to comment the line above out (in YaST) but was asked if I really wanted to do that since it was a system supplied entry. Opinions?
