[opensuse] Cannot type text in Libreoffice

Using the rpms from the repository or 11.4 DVD I am unable to enter text in any Libreoffice app. I can cut and paste text though. This is a fresh install of 11.4, but also had the issue in 11.3. I was able to work around it in 11.3 by downloading and installing rpms from the LO site. I'm at my wits ends here. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
James
