I suppose, if you wanted to spend the money, you could get a connector
manufacturer to make a custom 9 pin connector in a DB shell.
They used to be quite common, at least the form with just
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,20 present.
I remember by RS232:
Regular Soldering 2->3 and 3->2

(allthough that spec talked about voltage levels)
