I am trying to install YaCy on openSUSE 12.1 but I can't when I run

linux-nam3:~ # zypper addrepo
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home://f1ori/openSUSE_11.0_contrib/home:f1ori.repo

I get this error message
File '/repositories/home:/f1ori/openSUSE_11.0_contrib/home:f1ori.repo'
not

your link does not exist in http://download.opensuse.org

This is the link given by YaCy Wiki
http://www.yacy-websuche.de/wiki/index.php/En:OBSInstall

You get that message because that information is 3 or 4 years old and
explicitly for openSUSE 11.0... and you're using 12.1... While it may
work to install an old RPM like that, it's never really a good idea to
install files/apps that are built explicitly for one (much older)
version of openSUSE into your current openSUSE. It's a good way to
end up with a broken application, or worst case, break your install.

A quick look here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home://
and you see that the user f1ori doesn't exist there which is why
you're getting that error. This user does not have any build targets
defined: https://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=home%3Af1ori

A quick search of the OBS turned up two users that have built a
reasonably recent version of YaCy:
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=YaCy&project=home%3Ader_dani
and
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=yacy&project=home%3Acoprophiliac

Neither are explicitly for openSUSE12.1 though. You can use the build
service to build your own YaCy RPMs against 12.1, or open a request on
openFATE to have it added to an official or community repository:
https://features.opensuse.org/

You can also just go to the YaCy home page http://yacy.net/en/
download the tar.gz file they provide and install it as documented
there (this is the easiest option in my opinion). You don't really
need to install this via an RPM or spend any more time fiddling about
with outdated repositories and outdated Wiki information.
