I downloaded the ppd file from Xerox. It only gives one file for the 6140N so that's what I used. Worked in Ubuntu. Not sure what a tar file is or if that's what Xerox puts on the website. As a newbie, I have no idea how to expand it. Will try with some help. Thanks. Bob

By the way, I use the add printer from the gnome printer (not the yast) to setup my printer. I find it very easy to set it up. You might want to try YAST add printer instead of doing it via cups.

Not sure what YAST is or how to use it. I tried the only setup I know of, from settings/printer It's on the top right. Sorry for the lack of understanding here. I'm learning though. Thanks again.

Lost an email from one of you helpful people. Sorry. Anyway it said to copy the Phaser 6140N ppd to /etc/cups/ppd I did that and it worked great. Went to the cups page and the 6140N ppd was listed in the box so I added it and then set the defaults on the next page, clicked print test page and it worked, and in color! :-) Also prints from email and libre office. Thanks to all you great and patient men. Bob
