Hi,
I get this message:
<5.6> 2012-03-18 22:19:07 Telcontar rsyslogd - - - [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="5.6.5" x-pid="13027" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] rsyslogd was HUPed
<9.4> 2012-03-18 22:19:09 Telcontar logrotate - - - ALERT exited abnormally with [1]
<9.4> 2012-03-18 22:19:09 Telcontar logrotate - - - error: "/var/log/news" has insecure permissions. It must be owned and be writable by root only to avoid security problems. Set the "su" directive in the config file to tell logrotate which user/group should be used for rotation.
Indeed it has the correct settings. It is owned by news:news, as openSUSE sets it up. How can I tell logrotate to shut up?
/etc/logrotate.d/syslog:
/var/log/news/news.crit /var/log/news/news.err /var/log/news/news.notice {
compress
dateext
maxage 365
rotate 99
missingok
notifempty
size +4096k
create 640 news news
sharedscripts
postrotate
/etc/init.d/syslog reload
endscript
}
