Yes it can; yes it should. But lynn says that here DHCP server
is only handing out IP addresses, therefore she has not

Anton, you are wonderful.

Let's not forget that I only need the 127.0.1.1 for nfs3 or 4 via Kerberos. This is specific to the stringent DNS requirements of rpc.gssd. Conventional nfs mounts fine without knowing the fqdn of the client.
