X goes so slowly

Hi, i have a Pentium III 1 GHz, 512 MB RAM, and ati radeon 7000.
I've installed breezy and i realized that X goes slowly.
There is a fading/transition effect when i move from a window to
another.
Windows load slowly.
When i had installed hoary, there wasn't this problem.
I think there is a problem with X, but i don't understand where it is.
I haven't any process that use a large value of CPU, and my RAM is 3/4
free.
I don't understand where the problem is.
