gst-register...??

Post-update of ubuntu breezy I now have a persistent msg from any app that
requires the sound card, apparently, with the noteable exception of
CLI-invoked mplayer (see thread: "busted mplayer"). It's something about
running 'gst-register' which, of course, does not exist. 'Find / -iname
gst-register' yields 'File not found'. (Deja vu all over again. :-\) I have
no idea what to do about this one.

I could really use some help.
