Hi Stephen,
The fact is that my router encrypts WEP
perfectly,because I can connect to it with windoz$,
with the key Ive input, and if I don't, the modem does
not allow connexion.
The point is that my router does not give an IP to
ubuntu with this same key.
When I make iwconfig, I notice that the key is
displayed with a dash each 4 characters... while there
are none in realty.

If the above is true, then the problem is almost
certainly
quite simple: you don't have a WEP key on your
wireless
access point. If your access point needed WEP, then

couldn't access it without that key.
Or do you mean that if you turn off WEP, you then
connect to
a different, unencrypted access point?
