I saw your post on Ubuntu-users re: smb4k where you said you implemented
shares thru /etc/fstab

I'm trying to set up file sharing on a network where there is no Windows
workstation, so I don't think I need SMB.

The problem is that as a newbie I'm not aware of all the pieces I need
to put together this puzzle.

Are you using NFS to share certain folders on each workstation? What
lines specifically do you write in fstab?

It's worth posting this to the list.

I don't use NFS, I use samba and smb4k only works with samba. However,
NFS is very easy to use for sharing files but you need to read the docs.

You need to configure the server to allow other hosts to access the NFS
'shares'. It is a while since I've used NFS and your best bet is the
docs and posting to the list.
