i don't think you can someone else here may be able to help you, if you
have a pci nic card use that and see if you can find the drivers for the
gigabit card, i know it would be nice to use the onboard one but you might
have to bite the bullet and use a pci one. you could e-mail broadcom and
see if they do have a .deb package

Just to prove to you that I AM .... A NEWBIE, I just installed my old
RTL8029AS (believe it or not my card still has a BNC connector :)) and
could not set it up. Guess what I did?
I reinstalled Kubuntu; I have not finished installation but Kubu said
that my network is configured successfully.
I will keep you posted.
