Linux's main advantage in this war is that anyone with enough
knowledge can read the code and know what the exploit is, and if the
fix really works. It's a "many eyeballs" thing.
With Windows, we get to take MS's word for it and have to accept the
margin of uncertainty that's the best Norton et al can do.
Having the source doesn't win the war all by itself but it can tip the
balance in our favour.
