long shot: framebuffer problem? monitor not compatible
with OS screen drivers?

hi list,=== message truncated ===
i was away for a few month, so please forgive me if
this question was
asked before! (though i searched the list and
couldn't find anything).
the problem is as follows:
when the computer boots, i only see a blinking
cursor in the upper left
corner, then after the timeout, grub prints the
menu.lst entry of the
selected kernel and the screen gets filled with
white dots. after that,
usplash starts and everything is back to normal.
the problem is, if i hit Esc while the cursor
blinks, i can't see a
thing so navigating through the list with kernels
and os'es is a bit
difficult :)
i would be happy to sole this problem!
thanks in advance
