Hello,
Okay, I have sound working on the Edubuntu thin clients, but web pages with Flash don't give out any sound. Does anyone have a solution for this? Someone said that the problem is that Flash on Linux uses the old sound daemon (OSS) instead of ESD. Can anyone expand on this? If this is the problem, is it possible to get OSS to work on thin clients or to get Flash using ESD? Who should I talk to about this?
Cheers,
Daniel.
Yes, in the esound-clients package there is esddsp. You would have to get firefox(or whatever browser your using) be started by esddsp. It would look something like the following:
esddsp firefox
There used to be a configuration switch to do this, but I think its disabled in favor of just letting firefox access the oss driver directly and having alsa take care of things through emulation.
I just found the old conf switch in /etc/firefox/firefoxrc but it comes with a warning you can read there.
