Re: SATA 500 GB

Ran into a similar issue when using SATA drives on a motherboard RAID
ports, when the setting in the bios for the SATA RAID was set to RAID
mode (even though no RAID array was every defined), the controller was
assuming that each drive was part of a stripped array hence with two
drives connected on separate channels the controller was showing them
as 2 separate striped arrays (it's a interesting concept - an array
with one disk). None the less I disabled the RAID functionality in the
BIOS - setting the controller to act as an extra SATA controller and
not a RAID controller and hte lockup problems at startup during
install were solved.

Might be of some use to try!

I'm sure this is a motherboard / chipset / bios / driver problem.
Now, I've never personalley owned a SATA drive yet.. saying that I have
read some comments on newegg about only having ONE SATA drive works on
installing the OS then connecting the other afterwords.? Also worth
noting is it should be hooked up to the 1st SATA drive cable.

Might be worth a try.
