All the ubuntu kernels are SMP-enabled. I'm not sure you _can_ know until
you boot into it :-)

derek@othello:~$ uname -a
Linux othello 2.6.15-25-686 #1 SMP PREEMPT ...

the -386 is not smp afaik, all others are.

if you want restricted drivers, use `linux-686`, instead of `linux-image-686`.
