When I dpkg -P exim4 I am told it is not installed. When I install it, I
look into /etc/exim4/conf.d/acl and all the other directories and I find
nothing at all of any configuration file. What I would like to do is obtain
a copy of the unsplit exim4 config file and use that to populate the
/etc/exim4 directory. That, and know what the hell happened!
IIRC, the config files aren't owned by exim4, but rather some
sub-package, like exim4-config or something.
Exim4 and Message could not be sent because its size exceeded the servers limit ... I have just upgraded to exim4 and now I cannot send large messages, ... and updated the main configuration file update-exim4.conf and restarted exim ... I recall one upgrade, I think it was Red Hat 5, that loaded a kernel that had a bug that caused a complete freeze, and that was triggered only on certain hardware, and I won the lottery. ... a fresh install won't make much of a difference here. ... For each configuration file, open the carried-over one that was left in place, take all the changes you have in the old file, manually merge it into the .rpmnew file, then replace the old configuration file with the .rpmnew file. ... Isn't it really a matter of Windows not automatically installing third-party ... There really is no package manager analogy for Windows, ... can't change your configuration file automatically as it is not designed ... (SuSE)
