Whatever the solution to the re-install, upgrade, etc etc, you will be
aware that there there is no substitute for a good backup of data, and
also perhaps, of configuration files also. A test of the backup to
verify it works as you expect, is just as important.
I have both an image and a tarball stored on my server.
Other than the known bug in the newer gnome which apparently hoses some
nic's, the install was ok. Now I just have to restore all of my email
and bookmarks, etc., and I'll be fully up and running again.
