You can set the correct ports in the Advanced tab.
I think those SSL setings might be where your problem is. Also be sure
you use username@xxxxxxxxx rather than just the username, and of course you
need to enable pop in gmail itself, and all the other bits covered in the
Gmail howto, but I guess you have done all that ...
Well I have tried turning off non-blocking SSL, no luck, then I tried using
STARTTLS, then Sylpheed just stalled trying to connect, tried both together and
that also stalled Sylpheed trying to connect.
The only problem really is that error message, other than that I get the mail
and the connect goes well.
