Brile TTY?

Hello all,
I have noticed the brltty service running on my Ubunu 6.06.1. When I tried
to remove it, one of the dependencies was ubuntu-desktop.
As far as I know, ubuntu-desktop is an essential part of the system....
While we're at it, there are a bunch of apps (especially KDE card games)
that I would like to get rid of and it won't let me for the same reason....
a) I am curious to know why, and b) Any way to remove them?
