update-manager problem

Is there something wrong with the update-manager. I just instaled Drapper
Drake. I have a high speed internet connection. I can get to the internet
just fine with Firefox. I have never had a problem with update-manager with
previous releases. When I try to do an update everything goes fine until it
actually starts to download the upates. At that point I get a failure
message that says it failed to fetch things because: connection failed
146.137.96.7 80

Pings to that IP are successful.
