webcam help

hi all
im fairly new at ubuntu so forgive me if this has a simple answer.
i am trying to install my logitech messenger webcam with the following
0x46d : 0x8da
i have try the easycam approach and various others
today i went to the spca5xx site and it has the webcam with the correct
setting as above but says use the /le version now what i want to know in
fairly simple terms can anybody tell me how to do it.
