thunderbird unable to connect to IMAP server

Hi,
I am getting this problem in thunderbird

" unable to connect to imap server .you may have exceeded the maxium number
of connections to this server"

I went to advanced to setting and changed the number of connections to
lesser number still its not working..

Please help me out
