Re: Annoying firefox problems

Stephen Brown Jr spake thusy:
This may not be the correct place to post about this issue, but I
figured I would try nonetheless :) I am using Ubuntu 6.06.1 and got
Firefox up and running, however, for some reason if I try to open my
webhosting service's panel which is a CGI script, it prompts me to
download it instead of opening the page after I login. I have to cancel
that and refresh the page to get to my panel, how do I change that?

That sounds like a problem on the server side (as someone else pointed
out). I've come across that before myself, but not in a while. I'd
contact your provider.

Also, how do I set default file handlers? For example, if I try to
download a bittorrent file it defaults to Democracy player and I would
like to use Azureus instead.

Have you told Firefox previously what to do with that type of file? If
not, it's using the GNOME default. If so, there's a place in
preferences where you can change how various file types are handled (I'm
running Firefox 2.0 beta and I think it's different there).

I'd try telling GNOME you wasn't the default app for .torrent files to
be different. Save a torrent file to disk, right click on it, select
"Properties" and then the "Open With" tab. Select "Azureus" and click
"close". If Firefox is set to the system default then you'll now be
opening .torrent files with Azureus instead of Democracy player.

Or at the very least if you click on a downloaded .torrent file it will
launch Azureus and start the download. :-)
