I use OO writer almost exclusively when I am developing a document, but
unless the document has only very simple formatting I pull it up in Word
before
e-mailing it to the customer. I also sometimes get documents that won't
open in OO writer.

Word is certainly not perfect, but it is a defacto standard many of us
have to
deal with. I have started, with some of my more clueful customers, to
send dcouments in both .doc and .odt format.

I don't disagree - I simply wouldn't let somebody force me to only use Word,
because my experience is that interchange of documents has just as much
trouble between Word users as between OO & Word users. otoh, when in this
office I use Word because it's a darn sight faster than OO.
