I think you missed something. It is not that difficult to recover your

and trojans. You probably won't be able to trust any files saved from
that infected machine.

The best practice (assuming no infections ... well thats a big
assumptions in Windows world) is to back up your data onto a different
hard disk. Even if your hard disk crashes, the backup will be there to
recover from that disaster.


Ubuntu was free, I still had to pay heavily for it.

I have been using Linux for many years now. I have saved a lot of money
(development tools, image manipulation tools, pdf ps creation,
documentation, server sofware, what have you, all are free in Linux).
Meahwhile, I have learned a lot. so no, I don't agree with you here at all.

Ubuntu as well as Linux distros have a long journey to make before they
can compete with Windows which I had to learn the hard way. Now I have
to get my XP activated again...:-(

Linux distros are quite nice already. They have a long way to go to be
very user friendly and "smooth", but in my views, they are already ahead
of Windows. The only thing keeping Windows ahead now is the huge head
start it has had and they way it has been marketed. If Windows were to
have started alongside Linux distros, it would have reached nowhere.
This, of course, IMHO.
