Hai,

that's a question of your php-configuration via the php.ini (look at the
output of phphinfo() where php looks/finds this file...

There (in php.ini) is an option shortopentags, which influences this
behaviour...

Yes i know i cant get to it now the server is off :) its a standard php source install it always defaults to <? . Ill have to confirm this tommorow now. I was using the same source for the cgi version which ran ok, im pretty certain same config also. --
