I think you need to find a new Guru. Linux would be _behind_ MS if you
could do that - because it means you can't cache writes to the stick. You
_can_ configure a USB stick to be uncached (it's not quite trivial), but
the proper procedure is to umount, or at least sync, the device first. Try
writing something important to the stick, and unplug it. Plug it into
another computer and see how much you've retained...
