I want to use an existing Ubuntu server to boot machines via PXE.
I want the PCs that boot this way to behave _exactly_ as if they'd
booted from the 6.10 install/live CD locally. The only difference
being that the users will have to get the machine to PXE boot.
Thanks for the input regarding the DHCP part of this!
Unfortunately the core of the matter stands untouched...
How do I convert a bootable CD (or bootable floppy for that matter)
into a bootable image that can be used with PXE?
The LTSP package (part of edubuntu) uses PXE to boot up thin clients.
One possibility is to install that package (you can in ubuntu), see
how it does it, and then modify the boot image to look like normal
Ubuntu, instead of the educational version. I've gotten this to work,
but it was a long time ago, in Breezy, I think.
Install ltsp-server-standalone or ltsp-server (I think you use this
one if you already have a DHCP/TFTP server).
Hope that helps.
