This link is not helpful. I needed the requirements for operation of Live DVD,
not for operation from HDD after the OS is installed. Live DVD must have
higher RAM requirements than normal installation, since no HDD space is used
and the virtual filesystem occupies a significant part of RAM.
you can check this and will give an idea, but you are right with your
PC it will not work

Anyway, the PC in question proved to be flaky, horribly unstable even under
Damn Small Linux, and not deserving to run any Linux.
