Getting PCMCIA Modem working in Ubuntu 6.10

Hey Everyone! I've switched from Debian Etch to Ubuntu Edgy and I'm
very happy so far (though Etch has come a long way). I had to blacklist
the realtek modules "r818x" and "ieee80211_rtl" because it doesn't seem
to support WPA and am using ndiswrapper instead.
Now that the wireless is working great, I'd like to use my PCMCIA modem
to dial into work. It is a Dymex DX-200 PCMCIA modem and it worked
great on /dev/ttyS2 on Debian Etch, but no matter what I do, Ubuntu
doesn't detect any modem at all on my system (Gnome-PPP /
WVDialer). /var/log/messages/ reveals the following when I insert it:
kernel: [17180700.592000] 1.0: ttyS2 at I/O 0x3e8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
Is there something I'm missing?
