Rescue Mode?

Hi All,
A friend of mine decided he wants to make the move to Linux.
I gave him one of the CDs I ordered from Canonical's Ship-It (Ubuntu 6.06).
He tried to install it over the weekend.
He has WinXP installed and he wants Ubuntu to co-exist (for now...) on a
second Hard Drive.
While installing he managed to mess up the partition table and now he can't
access the Linux box....
I don't have all the details, but actually, what I wanted to ask was: How do
I boot the LiveCD to Rescue Mode? How do I wipe the MBR (fdisk /mbr?) and
re-install the GRUB Boot Loader?
Thanks!
