I would like to have all and every "mail" routines, running on the

As I have multiples mailboxes to check, this would be very interesting.

On my side, the question is: Is it really necessary to setup the
following,

Fetchmail, procmail, postfix and then kmail?

Isn't there a faster, more straight forward way to perform such tasks?

Well, you absolutely don't need postfix. Fetchmail, procmail, kmail is a
pretty simple setup.
