Windows Media Files

I understand that MPlayer can play Windows Media video files (I haven't set it
up yet). What about audio files? What would be used for those?

Also, there are several web sites that have streaming audio (or video) that
use Windows media. Is it possible to play those? If so, what tool?

Thanks in advance
