Hey,
I am trying to install kubuntu 6.10 through the alternate install cd option. I
downloaded the cd from the Walla Walla College at
http://ftp.wwc.edu/pub/mirrors/ubuntu-releases/kubuntu/edgy/
I checked the md5sum from the online to my downloaded iso and it was the same. I
also checked the md5sum included in the iso image to the md5sum burnt to cd, and
it was the same. But when I boot to kubuntu and check for cd defects I get an
error. I then copied the file where I was getting an error from to my other
computer and created an md5sum for that file. It matched the md5sum from the
downloaded iso image.
Has anyone experienced that the mirror has a bad iso image? Or any other ideas
to getting a good install?
this sounds a bit like something that happened when I was using suse.
The cd checks notes included something about the cd drive not
finishing the write process (a space, or something, ?? not sure).
This seemed to be related to the drive design at the time. I think I
continued anyway, having done my own cd checks.
