default dapper install, raid, first is swap, unbootable

Good $whatever,

There seems to be a small boot problem after a fairly default install of
dapper (edgy as well, possibly feisty). This happens if one tries to

To reproduce I can do the following. Create two raid arrays, both of
level 1, with only one device and the second device missing (similar to
"--create /dev/md0 --level=1 --raid-devices=2 --missing-ok /dev/hda1",
same for /dev/md1 with only /dev/hda2). The first array /dev/md0 should
be formatted and mounted as swap. The second array /dev/md1 should be
formatted and mounted as "/". After proceeded with the installation, a
reboot is required.

At this point the boot will fail, with Grub saying "filesystem type
unknown, partition type 0xfd". This can be explained by the fact that
/boot/grub/menu.lst says "root: hd(0,0)". It should be, of course,
"root: hd(0,1)". Changing this in menu.lst, and the problem is gone.

This problem is also seen by several others. I believe the same problem
exists in Edgy. Has this problem been taken care of in Feisty?
