dd would work if drive sizes are the same. If the target is larger the
extra space would be lost.

I wouldn't mind using DD, I am just not sure about the commands. I don't
want to compress the image, I want to copy it directly to an iMac attached
in Firewire Target mode. Can you give me an example command to do this?
