AVG Antivirus Update

Hello,
I have AVG Anti-virus free edition version 7.5.45 with a virus database
version 268.18.10/720. I want to use the update feature. When I go to
evoke the update, I get "Process update failed, you do not have
permissions". How do I give myself permissions (or, can I) to update
this at the GUI level? I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 "The feisty dawn", with
the latest updates. I'm running GNOME version 2.18.0 build 3/13/2007.
