This is a really useful tool...and it addresses a growing problem
(bruteforce SSH and other attacks); I was just hoping I'd overlooked it
somewhere.

You might also want to look at fail2ban, which I think is also in the
repositories. It does the same job, but manipulates IP tables instead of
using hosts.deny. I think it's a bit better at cleaning up blocked IP
addresses too.
