Re: Intermittent 100% cpu utilization

Hi all,

I think I have the problem resolved and Shaun gave me the hint when he said
it seemed to occur at specific web sites.

The issue is with Java and the associated plugins.

I used the synaptic package manager to completely remove both Java v5 and
Java v6.

I then reinstalled just Java 5 and its associated plugins.

Things have significantly calmed down.

I can't pronounce the issue completely solved but the majority of my pain
seems to have gone away.

Thank you,

Sometimes I walk in and the computer is just racing away when all it
should be doing is just sitting quietly in the corner. Best work around
solution I have seen so far. I have been watching the list to see if there
was a better option but have not seen one. It is much more pronounced in
Feisty than in Edgy, as least on my machine. The racing and some funky
action with external usb hard drives are the only two things that have stood
out in an otherwise excellent update.
