Hi! When I try to view a DivX movie from http://tv-links.co.uk
(specifically the "300" movie), the totem plugin gives me a nice big X!
On windows, I just installed the DivX web player and it worked great. I
did install every codec package (gstreamer, xine, and even the
w32codecs). Why won't it play??

hmm..totem isnt really all that great of a program. i really wasnt
impressed with teh fact that it "supported" all these file types (such
as mpg, avi, mp3, wmv, wav, etc), yet it only works with a few of them
(ive only had success with avi and wav files)

If i were you, i would ditch totem and go with mplayer. its probably the
best media player ive used on linux

I installed the mplayer plugin and told it to enable DivX, but it just
says 'stopped' when I push play. I click on 'Copy URL,' but nothing lets
me paste it anywhere. I have a feeling that DRM is playing some evil
role in this :-(

yah. No matter what you do in totem, more then likely your not going to
get it to work. The Mplayer plugin doesnt change the way that totem
views media, just adds mplayer extensions.

Sorry for replying to a dead post, but I finally found the problem (for
anyone who likes any of those internet-tv sites). I installed the
official divx 6.1 codec and it started working.

Please post where you obtained the divx 6.1 codec to help the rest of us
who may need it. Thanks
