not playing media

Dear friends,
I am using Ubuntu Feisty 7.04 amd64.But its not playing any media files. It is needing some codec(Gstreamer). Can anyone please tell me how to get it and play media files on it.I am connected to the internet through proxy server.I cannot connect to the internet through linux.
