With pleasure, I simply rebooted the computer and pressed escape when
the booting process started. This brings up a list of kernels. I
highlighted kernel 2.6.17 generic and pressed enter. That was all.
The audio details are:-
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SB450 HDA Audio (rev 01)
