Make windows remember their options

Hello,
some applications (totem being one) start with special Options, like
showing on all desktops. In totem I can deactivate this behavior for
the currently running session, but as soon as I start it again, it
again shows on all desktops.
Is there some general way of making totem (and others) remeber window
settings like these? (show on all desktops, always on top, etc.)?
Cheers
buebo
