and several others and I have everything already installed - including
restricted formats. I checked the region setting as well.

I didnt have any problems on 6.06 when I played it though.

MPlayer shoots out an error right off on opening -
Error opening/initalizing the selected video_out(-vo) device.

I don't know if this would help, but did you try installing all the DVD
codecs using Automatix2?
