Bootable CD ROM Bigger Than 2.88MB?

I need to flash the BIOS on my Dell Inspiron 1501 and also apply a
firmware update to the DVD writer. I've been searching, but have not
been able to find a way to build a CD ROM over 2.88MB in usable size.
That means that the 3MB exe's that Dell supplies just will not fit.
I've ruled out bootdisk.com and a bunch of others due to this serious
limitation. Somewhere there has to be a site that explains how to build
a bootable CD without limiting it to floppy size. Or is there? I just
need to be able to put about 7MB on the CD, some for the msdos system,
and the rest for the two exe's.
And no, I do not dual boot. Strictly Linux, mainly Ubuntu.
