amarok in ubuntu (with keyboard multimedia buttons)

Hello,
my extra keyboard's buttons ("my computer", calculator, search, etc...) work
out of the box both in ubuntu (gnome) and in kubuntu (kde).
Except for the fact that in gnome, amarok is not the default multimedia app,
so the "play", 'stop', 'pause', etc buttons are simply ignored when amarok is
concerned.
Anyone knows how can I tell Mr. Gnome that I like amarok very much, and would
like it to fuction as per System/Preferences/Shortcuts?
regards
FF
