I'm running Ubuntu at work and I believe Microsoft Office 2007 is the
only application that view these documents. Is there a way to view it
with OpenOffice.org?
If it's a standard Microsoft Excel 2003 XML (*.xml) then you should be
able to open it just fine. If it is a MS 2007 .xlsx or similar, sent it
back to whoever sent it to you and tell them that you do not accept non
ISO standard XML files and to please resend in a format that is
recognized by OOo.
BTW: you can implement a MSWord2007 .docx filter in Ubuntu's OOo by
following this:

It works in Feisty 7.04.
