Yeah, even if I issue 'startx' without gdm working (/etc/init.d/gdm
stop) the X is starting and working. But, which DM it is using in the
background? Is it not gdm? If I apt-get remove gdm, will the X work at
all? The working of init in Ubuntu seems quite mysterious.
